Insane prices are partially due to the effect of Napster all those years ago. I don’t even look at my royalty statements because they are so abysmal. I’m not making excuses for Ticketmaster or any of these fuckers especially the scalpers but it is a reality that most of us are making jack shit (.004 cents) off of song streams. Touring is the only Avenue for making any real money from tix and selling merch on those tours.

Ticket prices seem fine to me, at least for the bands I want to see. It's the fees that are ridiculous. They literally double the price of the ticket and for what? $75 is the most I've spent on a ticket before fees, every other concert I've been to has been cheaper, the majority being about half that. And for good (but not great) seats for The Black Keys with one of my favorite bands opening for them both times I saw them, so it's 2 for the price of 1, seems a fair price. It does have to suck to be a fan of some of the most popular artists though. If I wanted to see Beyonce instead of Reel Big Fish, I'd just never get to see the artist I like live.

Not always. But recently I was "stuck" on "Synchronicity II" by The Police. Listened to it for weeks. Currently fixated on "Molecules" by Aesop Rock. But when I'm in that frame of mind I do still listen to other stuff. Just that I frequently go back to those tracks I'm hung up on.
