Deftones tickets from the 2016 tour to the 2022 tour went up like $20 before fees for the same seats at the same venue. Never thought I’d see $100+ for them but that light rig couldn’t have been cheap to haul around or design.

I buy records now and grew up buying CDs until around 2018.

This second time I saw them it was Band Of Horses. The first time was Arctic Monkeys. I love The Black Keys too but both times I saw them the opening acts were the bigger draws for me.

Insane prices are partially due to the effect of Napster all those years ago. I don’t even look at my royalty statements because they are so abysmal. I’m not making excuses for Ticketmaster or any of these fuckers especially the scalpers but it is a reality that most of us are making jack shit (.004 cents) off of song streams. Touring is the only Avenue for making any real money from tix and selling merch on those tours.

Was it Band of Horses opening for them? Or who? I saw them recently

For big bands/big venues, yeah, I think it's the norm. I've seen a bunch of smaller groups in medium/small venues recently and paid reasonable prices, though. I'm going to a show in April and paid $20 for GA tickets.

I recently saw THE SHINS play their entire OH, THIS INVERTED WORLD 🌍 album for it's 20th anniversary release. Exact order from the album, it was AMAZING 🤩. They had some time left to play some other hits after.

Yeah I get pretty obsessed when I discover a cool new band too man. Well new to me anyway. It's perfectly normal man. Rock out brother 🤟😎🤘

Ticket prices seem fine to me, at least for the bands I want to see. It's the fees that are ridiculous. They literally double the price of the ticket and for what? $75 is the most I've spent on a ticket before fees, every other concert I've been to has been cheaper, the majority being about half that. And for good (but not great) seats for The Black Keys with one of my favorite bands opening for them both times I saw them, so it's 2 for the price of 1, seems a fair price. It does have to suck to be a fan of some of the most popular artists though. If I wanted to see Beyonce instead of Reel Big Fish, I'd just never get to see the artist I like live.

Artists most certainly have input on ticket prices. Also, I'm not mad at the band or TM; I think they'd be nuts not to charge as much as people are willing to pay.

Well Blink was a special case given that is was a reunion gig for a really popular band. That's not to say their prices weren't incredibly greedy.

Not always. But recently I was "stuck" on "Synchronicity II" by The Police. Listened to it for weeks. Currently fixated on "Molecules" by Aesop Rock. But when I'm in that frame of mind I do still listen to other stuff. Just that I frequently go back to those tracks I'm hung up on.

artists don't choose the price, artist barely even make money from tickets, they make money through merch. so don't be mad at the band, be mad at ticketmaster/the venue they are playing in.

A Dead tribute band here in the Southeast called Cosmic Charlie did Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety between sets of the Dead. It was so cool to hear that album live and as you can imagine the entire show was…long. But wow was it fun!
