came here to say King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard... Take my word for it, you might not be a deadhead, Phish may not be your thing, Radiohead may get monotonous or depressing (i said it) but KG&LW will keep you wondering "Is this really the same band?" and there's lots of material.

Whenever you find a band you love, it’s a good idea to check out their influences on Google or Allmusic.

You should check out The Knife! My buddy got me into them a couple years ago. When I listened to Silent Shout the first time, my reaction was 'pretty cool, kinda too weird.' Then I listened to Deep Cuts, and asked my friend what the actual fuck is this noise. Then I listened to 'The Cop', actually understood the lyrics and started laughing. Then, I was hooked. Absolute, beautiful chaos.

For bands with enough depth to really dive into:
Pixies, Built To Spill, Blonde Redhead, Mew, Flaming Lips, Jane’s Addiction, PJ Harvey, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Spiritualized, Stooges/Iggy Pop, Velvet Underground/Lou Reed, all of Damon Albarn’s projects (Blur/The Good The Bad & The Queen, Gorillaz, Mali Music, solo)…

What is it you are missing? 2010s edm party songs? Taio Cruz, Pittbull and so on? That era is probably the worst of all time when it comes to chart pop.
