well of course it's debatable, music is all subjective. my point is that no great artists now are being held back by the inaccessability of making music, which is definitely a positive. while a producer might help an artist, they might also alter that artist's vision for the worse. I'll take more bad music if it means there's also more good music.

Thanks for the clarification. Very interesting. I didn't know that many details about it. I really should check if there is some kind of official biography available. Though I guess many of these juicy details would be left out intentionally. :-)

Edit: "The Chain" is one of the many songs from them I really like.

Stevie Nicks singing backup on John Stewart's Gold and Midnight Wind, and Miley Cyrus' Midnight Sky

Phil Collins playing drums and singing backup on Frieda's I Know Something's Going On

James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt singing backup at the end of Neil Young's Heart of Gold

Michael Jackson's chorus on Somebody's Watching Me

Michael McDonald in anything. Such a distinctive voice.

Jewel, although never officially released, had a bootleg one going around in the late 90’s, called Dddelight that was incredible. Most of, if not all of the songs can be found on the 25th anniversary collection of Pieces of You.

My takeaway from what you are saying is nobody can do right if they become popular to the point it is "overplayed" it somehow degrades on its quality of a song. I personally don't get it. You know people are born every year and get to discover music as they grow even if they weren't part of the time frame the music was popular. Are we just supposed to throw any music that got too much play out the door because some have heard it too much?
