Saw them at a fest once due to proximity of where I was fighting alcohol poisoning on the ground, and I’ll I remember is the singer of this band saying before at least 3 songs “remember when this was the biggest song in the world too? Sing for us!” Ok dawg.

This is probably extremely Boomer of me but I like reading music sites. Pitchfork, Stereogum, Paste, etc. AllMusic kind of feels like a dinosaur but it's a great place to really dig into an artist's catalog and see related artists, etc..
I like Spotify lists but I feel they get a little samey sometimes. But I like the site Every Noise At Once for getting deep dives into different, often pretty random, genres on Spotify.

Religious music meant for kids if you're looking for something cringey, or William Shatner's spoken word covers if you're looking for a weird take on something recognizable

Bob Dylan going electric. Afterwards he'd release the greatest songs of his career, and still putting out great music.

Right.
Well that's what the OP is asking for. Songs that seem happy on the surface but are actually depressing.

Huh, ok I'll look more into him.
And to be clear you don't mean the White Stripes but specifically his solo work?
