That is a good idea. I just checked and this is my break down

1 = 14

2 = 108

3 = 175

4 = 119

5 = 28

Will probably do the 1 and the 5s again when it is done. Though I do listen to some of the 5's in my day to day now.

Honestly, the vocal style is what turns me off about a lot of modern pop music. Sounds like talk-singing in a "valley girl" accent. Add in autotune and trap/EDM beats, and you've got a recipe guaranteed to make me hit the skip button. I'm not against pop music in principle, but a lot of the stuff today doesn't sound good to me even on a superficial level.

But I'm clearly not the target demographic, and people have expressed similar sentiments about basically every pop music trend ever. So I'll just stick to my oldies and alt/indie stuff, and let others enjoy the modern sounds.

I listened to an album a day for a few months a few years ago. I stopped holding myself to the goal because I found it didn't take long to more or less totally forget what my opinion of each album was. Listening through an album 1 time doesn't give it a chance to stick.

Depends. Do you want him to stay on as a songwriter/lyricist? Because you could begin with that as a compliment. Then lead into saying you all would like to pursue the possibility that lead vocals might sound better with a different singer (like maybe a female lead? I say this because a lot of guys have never even considered whether or not a female lead would sound better & can't really argue against it without hearing it).

If you'd rather drop the guy, even as a songwriter, well, then just be up front about it. If the person can actually sing (as in, hits the right notes consistently) but their tone color just doesn't fit, well, there's no amount of arguing that can make that work.

I faced the same situation. Talking with honestly is the only way. The problem is when they have no criteria, are not aware if they are sucking on something, and/or are unable to understand or accept that there are some weak points they could improve. That's what happened to us, and it looks like this is the case for you too. Still, we tried talking several times as honestly as we could, to no effect. They simply wouldn't accept their shortcomings. Ultimately I figured we were meant to form a band, our tastes and criteria were way too different, so I simply quit, along with other unhappy members.
Have a non-aggressive talk and figure this key aspect out, you can tell in one talk if it is going to work or not, and if not, do not waste more time on something that has no reason to change.

Oh shit, yeah, I got that one the other day and man, I was 14 when that came out and loved it. Apparently, it was even better than I remembered it. Every song is such a banger.

I'm going something similar with only Rock albums, as I only listened to rap growing up so everything is pretty much new to me, aside from the popular hit songs. I do 25 albums per months, which is somewhat enough time to give them all multiple listens.

So I always wondered for people who do the "1 Album A Day", how many times do you listen to it? A good amount of my favorite albums from Rock are ones that I didn't like or thought it was average on the first listen, and I personally find listening to the same album again in a short time frame burns it out for me.

Love this! First album was the Isley brothers 3+3 and I’m loving it. Never made the connection that “I” by Kendrick Lamar samples “That Lady” until listening to it just now.
