Interesting. The oldest members of my family (60s) listen to SOAD, Eminem, Muse etc, while the youngest in my family (19) listens to classical music, and has a particular interest in old sea shanties. My mother died about 10 years ago in her 70s, and she was still listening regularly to the latest pop music. At 60, I love mainly alt rock, grunge & electronic, but also African music like African Head Charge. It might be just my family, but I think music is pretty universal

I see lots of would be singers who cant hear themselves for some reason and are off key, or mumbly, or just terrible. Gives me nightmares that I might be as oblivious as them and no one will tell me. I started singing because my bands actual singer left, but I hadn't got comfortable yet so I asked the lead guitar guy if I sounded alright (I knew I didn't), and he said "Dont worry, the guitar drowns you out anyway".

These days I'm a lot better at keeping in key and I mostly worry about expression and dynamics. But it took a while.

I've found I've gotten to a point that it can be paralyzing to try to pick out something to listen to just because I have so much, that is one thing having it all digital helps with at least.

There are various languages in India and songs in all languages are mostly lyrics based... I am just trying to understand why rock music which sounds so great doesn't have lyrics as good... I don't really think language is the main reason because I can understand English pretty easily

I'm shocked that Mama Africa only got one star, I actually am listening to all the albums in chronological order (I do cheat from time to time and pick one at random), so I ended up listening to it in between albums of the same timeframe, now I'm wondering if it would have changed my perception of id listened to it among albums of a different time period, to me it seemed to really fit in with the other late 50s stuff.

When I was young there was a plaza me and my friend loved to go once a week. Store one was a head shop. Store two was a great mom and pop Italian pizza place and store three was a record shop. We called it guy plaza, we would get high, chow some great pizza, then spend an hour digging through CDs. Damn I miss Guy Plaza LOL

I started with we will rock you and bohemian Rhapsody... But will definitely check out desire...

Telugu songs mostly all indian songs are heavy lyrics based... Iam looking for songs with lyrics with deep meaning, strong wording and rhyming.

Dude I don't listen to Indian music and of course it may sound better to you cause it's Indian and you're not translating. Also since you're not from the the West there are some things you may not understand or comprehend due to the culture. Elvis has tons of fans in Japan. Riddle me that one. I can't. I listen to lots of music in Spanish. To me the move songs are deeper but that's cause Spanish is my first language. Like I can't pray in English. Feels empty. But I speak English better than Spanish now.

I’d say Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen is up there with some of the best rock lyrics. I love Zeppelin and Stairway (as much as it’s overplayed) has some great lyrics. What Is and What Should Never Be is also a personal favorite for lyrics.

For something a bit different, check out the album Desire by Bob Dylan. Some of the best storytelling around.

American Pie is a song that really moved me when I first heard it.

But I don’t really know what kind of lyrics you are looking for. Many rock songs are obtuse or minimalist in their lyrics, leaving open various interpretations.
