This. People vastly underestimate how talented you have to be to write an extremely well-crafted, catchy pop song, and Max Martin has done tons of them. You don’t have to like them but they’re well done.

I'm not a big pophead but a lot of the songs Martin wrote/co-wrote/produced are really solid catchy songs. If you don't like them just listen to something else mate

Brian Eno- Music For Airports (anything from that album, or better yet, just loop the whole thing)

… also many of his other ambient works are great for relaxation. They’ve helped me out on many redeye flights.

And also, nearly anything from the Minecraft Volume Alpha or Volume Beta (artist is C418)

The internet killed the local scenes. There’s still hotbeds of certain styles but a lot of them are holdovers. Jam bands are still big throughout upstate NY, for example.
