Got married in the National Bank Building back in 2009. Newark holds a special place in my heart going back over 30 years.

Plenty cars stolen or broken into, two apartment robberies, did my undergrad and some grad studies at NJIT, roamed the hallways of Essex County Community College as a snot nosed kid while my mother worked there, late nights and street fights.

Even before the Prudential Center was built up, that whole area was a mini mall with all kinds of shops. My mother used to pickup some delicious peanut brittle from one of the stores there. Alas, urban development/gentrification...

I wasn't a bad kid by any measure, but I knew what was up and who to run with and who to stay clear of.

Newark is indeed a beautiful city that would have swallowed you whole if your weren't careful "back in thr day"

riverside amc is a little more than 30mins away, but suuuuper nice theater. cushy reclining chairs and they do that thing where they deliver food to your seat. its in a small mall full of rich people stores (tiffany, jimmy choo, etc) so its usually very very quiet and chill

I do agree with people mentioning the Ironbound, but you don't have to live in one of the little apartments near Penn! The amount of construction near those buildings has been attracting rats like crazy recently (among other problems). However, there are several streets in the neighborhood that have 2-3 family homes that are much more livable/practical. A few are: Chestnut Street, St. Francis Street, Clifford Street. These are all sort of on the borders of the super busy areas like Ferry or Wilson Ave, so they're pretty safe but you still get some privacy.

Guys idk about this tower, like I want to be very positive about this. They people in the meeting were complaining about the height were halo tower 3 is literally one story less than this tower even though this tower is 520 feet and not 485. If halo can do it this can too, praying the November second meeting goes well, if it doesn’t get approved maybe instead of making the tower all glass maybe they can add some art deco to it. Because the people of James street are crazy.
