I find this so aggravating. I hope it’s like a supply chain thing or something, because otherwise… I almost asked them when I was in there today.

I wonder if defunding NPD by 12 million had anything to do with it

I'm not talking just about crime but basically how everyone is acting. Everyone seems to have a bug up there ass.

It clearly isn’t everyone; that would lead to anarchy. The fact of the matter is; when the factors that disincentivize crime ( arrests , prosecutions, social sanction etc) are removed, those who would otherwise commit crimes are emboldened to do so. There simply is no other explanation for the rapid rise in crime we are seeing over the last 18 months. The tragedy of it all is that the victims of these crimes will ultimately be the poorest and worst off among us.
Prevailing wisdom in this sub is that there is nothing to see until the murder rate in the city reaches 1980 level; at this rate we will be there in 12 months. If you think it’s bad now, just wait till Biden tanks the economy and the unemployment rate hits double digits.

If I may reiterate…
That’s it, that’s the joke.

That's the modern viewpoint on crime. The pendulum will swing back, it already has a bit. Terrible what is happening in Newark though, just really untenable and unacceptable.

Since the last time this was brought up, I have confirmed that the door at Dario's is still broken. Never change Dario, never change.

You misunderstand. The broken window is a conceptual piece of art meant to represent the broken nature of our democracy.

Since the pandemic, it feels like everyone across all facets of society has lost what was left of their minds.

The Police is no where to be found these days. So many bad things are happening in this city, unreported with no police presence. Drug dealers all over the downtown and people shitting and peeing everywhere.

No, how about just supporting their business! More profits more capital for them to keep up with their needs

This use to happen a lot back around 2008-2014, the police really needs to make their presence known during after school hours. If we don't stop this now it can get much much worse.

"Ah yes, instead of focusing on deterring violent crime and carjackings in the city of Newark, we should target smoke shops who are disturbing cannabis, as both our licensing process and cops are too slow and we need to reach our quota-"
Bro should focus on...I dunno, not being bald? It'd probably be bad to be around him on a sunny day, blindness for days.

Interesting to see that a significant majority believes only 1 tower will be built. I think many of us have become a bit disillusioned by grand plans that have come and gone without any of it materializing. Very much hope we are turning that page.
