Unless youre a homeowner, you best believe demand for housing will increase your rent. Hence its good to increase supply so prices don’t increase too much.

If you purposely push down supply, prices will go up. Capitalism (developers, high income folks) are realizing Newark potential, hence the increase in rent. That’s capitalism.

Yeah, its just as bad in the outer boroughs or upper manhattan... it doesn't make sense since the regions urban areas don't really go to bed and have people going between the neighborhoods

I keep reading that 'everyone knows it as a NY airport'. But every family member and friend living in Manhattan, Queens, Bx, SI never ever consider it as such (and, of course, they go at lengths to remind just how 'in Jersey' it really is).

I know it's shared airspace, it's just annoying when the language gets pushed as if NY somehow owns the damn thing. Maybe easy for me to say since I'm on this side, but there's a lot of crying about consequences we haven't even realized yet (if they ever occur).

The Port Authority of NY/NJ is a regional authority. It administers the interstate bridges and tunnels as well.

This makes it more difficult for consumers to price air travel to/from the region and hence more expensive.

Yeah they are built to optimize return on investment and not to fit in with the character of the city. They are everywhere too, so cities are just starting to look the same anywhere there is a commuter rail or highway. Saw similar all the way down to Florida on a train trip, and then just cookie cutter houses along the highways down there. Lots of capital and people just crunching numbers to figure out where to build.
