Wish it was a local or NJ based business but certainly beats Dino BBQ. That place sucked, was overpriced and based in Syracuse. No thanks

I did say that. I literally said it was the solution.

The concept is gentrification is purely performative and ultimately self defeating. It’s primarily a way for we’ll to do liberals to feel good about themselves while perpetuating the kinds of inequities that claim to hate.
There is absolutely nothing anyone can do to stop people from living where they want. If enough people with the means want something the market will find a way to provide it. Case in point is Brooklyn or Hoboken.
Why can’t progressives just say what they want? Affordable housing! If the median household income is an area is X then the median rent in that area needs to be approximately 0.3X. Simple as that. If the private market can provide that good; they can have at it. If not let the public sector take over. A city like Newark should be issuing bonds and building a 5000 units a year to keep up with demand.
Bottom line is there is no political will to house the masses. Keeping people housing insecure is a core to social experiment we are living in. Let people get comfy in decent homes and who know what else they might demand.

Needs more Infill in the Downtown Core to generate buzz... DT NWL feels like DT JC in the mid 2000s before the current transformation took hold.

The Neighborhood is called Forest Hill and it borders the park to the East ,north of 2nd to MT Prospect and up to the Belleville Border. There are also pockets of the Oranges with really nice architecture which is often overlooked. I've walked all 4 Oranges this past year...usually in chunks of 5-7 miles per trip..

Brnach Brook is one of Newarks best hidden gem. It’s incredible well maintained and in the spring theres tons of Cherry Blossom. Definitely check out the festival in spring

Yes they will be adding more bike spots. They also mentioned intentions to build bike lanes directly into Newark Penn to make it more accesidnle. The big concern for the whole group was crossing route 21.

Newark gives me such a cold and unwelcome feeling. I’ve grown up in Essex and had to live in Newark for a time as a kid. Even the nicer buildings just give such a bad aura for me.

Agree the render as is may not age well, but definitely a good step in the right direction. Hopefully the seating and food trucks kinda pull the energy of nightlife on Ferry Street towards the station.

There are a bunch of bike racks underneath the overpass, just south of that small entrance garden. But we need even more! They're so often used.

Yup it’s right over by branch brook park! And I like it. It’s a really nice place to spend an afternoon outside. Only thing I would change is to not allow cars to drive through it lol

Branch Brook park is beautiful year-round. And yes, the cathedral is right next to the southernmost tip of Branch Brook.
