Yes, sorry. That was the joke. I was saying that he finally got the hint to propose because she started wearing a wedding dress all the time. I was going to say the same thing about the meaning of betrothal but you had already done it. I was just being silly.

I was trying to shorten the story. It was an arranged marriage. She was 16. They later had 15 children, 1 was my lovely grandmother that lived to be 96.
