Iran used be very progressive, especially in the areas for women. Unfortunately the Shah also had a secret police that had a nasty habit of making people disappear. This allowed the religious zealots to take over and reverse all those gains.

This is in Bergen, Western Norway. Where he´s walking is the famous fish market. Still stands today but with streetfood style open tents and a new seafood building to his right and it gets busy during the summer months with tourists. This area is called Bryggen and is a historical site.
