I would disagree on the second bit. I think Dad looks very good too. Strong jaw, nice eyes and smile. Plus OP said in another comment that his dad was military police, so I'm sure he's physically quite good looking too.

In addition to the smoking or no overhead bins is the pillow (and not visible blankets) they would routinely give out. And magazines that they’d hand out. People played cards on planes or just read or talked. And a hot meal (usually not great but still) was included with the fare.
