PS — I think it’s the original Chicago HD store but I could be wrong. (We were a Chicago family and storefront pics of the era kind of match.)
Either way, I come from good stock. Thanks, Babi. 💪🏽

And even more prone to accidents. One thing Rickover would absolutely never compromise on was safety.

My husband worked on his staff as an Ensign in the early 70s while the Viet Nam war was going on. He greatly respected the Admiral who worked hard and didn't want any cushy stuff for himself like chauffeurs and fancy furniture in his office.

I had a neighbor that was interviewed by Rickover. He told me about his interview. Rickover asked him why he wanted to be in “his” Nuclear Submarine program. My neighbor said that he was in the top 5 of the Naval Academy and was studying Nuclear Engineering because that was his passion and the fact that it was “his” program was inconsequential. Rickover screamed “PUT HIM IN THE BOX!” And the proceeded to throw pens and pencils at my neighbor while two guards dragged him away and put him in a closet with a single stool and a hanging lightbulb. He sat there for two hours after which they opened the door and asked if was ready to be respect-full to the Admiral. He finished the interview and got the job.

>You know someone's on the way out when you see a few posts about them.
In my experience the flood of posts usually don't start until after the death so even though it still feels like karma farming this flood of Jimmy Carter posts feels a little less so.

The future Jimmy Carters are losing the down ballot elections early in their career because 80% of us don't vote in the primaries.

No, Tom Cruise gets top billing otherwise we're gonna sue you. David Miscavige and the rest of us will go all operation Snow White on you if you don't.
