Why do people born before 1980 always look middle aged in high school senior photos?

Every one of us had that same shirt about that time period.

Close. The lady on the couch was their friend partying with them. My older brother and/or sister could have been babysitting that night and per usual, my parents brought the party home with them. I was that late, unexpected addition to the family, right before Roe v Wade, so I was the only baby/toddler in the friend group at that time. I was always allowed to stay up til the party ended.

Second car was a Maverick, beat the piss out of it. Rolled it over on the highway, we flipped it back on its wheels, filled the trans fluid and were on our way. Roof was slighly cockeyed, don't know how it didn't break any glass, but the doors didn't work anymore.

Batman was out in Summer 1989, so it must have been then or later.

Couldn't kill em, but they couldn't pass the emissions standards of the 80s.
