He was born in Poland. Emigrated to the USA in 1890. The rest you've got correct. Yes, American citizen (I assume) of Polish origin. He's described in all texts as "Polish priest".

89 cents a pack at the Amoco near my house about 1980. Weirdly the attendant also sold weed at 20 an eighth and 40 years later the low end price at my local dispensary is still 20 bucks except the bag isn’t covered in grease and smelling like gasoline.

They also look more mature for their age. For example, this 18 year old woman looks like she is mid to late twenties, IMO.
