One of the best bassists of her era, constantly overlooked simply because she wasn't flashy or overstated. Rhymic intensity, metronomic precision, and a "I am not one to be fuxked with" attitude.

I hate getting my picture taken and being told to smile. I can't force that. I've just started giving thumbs up instead to say "Although my face doesn't say it, I'm content with the situation."

And unique, style-wise.
I love watching her switch from using her thumb to using fingers in mid-bar.
She tends to play the lower strings with her thumb and the higher ones with fingers but that’s not always the case. It’s so fun to watch.

The photo was from a visit to London, where they also played a performance at The Palace Theater. There were other photos from the time, dated 12/31/30, showing Chico at a piano, surrounded by brothers Zeppo, and Groucho, their wives, and Groucho’s kids (Arthur and Miriam).
As others noted, this showed the brothers without their makeup and wigs, for which they were most known.
