She had only been playing bass for five months by the time they first played live. Incredible.

Reply to Beatles era supermodel Jean Shrimpton and Paul McCartney photographed by Richard Avedon, āHarperās Bazaarā April, 1965 by butterflypoo69
Jean Shrimpton is sometimes mentioned as the āfirst supermodel,ā coming to fame in the early sixties, prior to the Beatlesā own fame. She was the notable āfaceā of the Swinging London era, working with (and dating) famed photographer David Bailey.
This 1965 Richard Avedon series is usually shown in black-and-white, and there are about a dozen variants, with Paul and Jean in different poses, as well as some of either by themselves in the shot. This, with Paul looking somewhat bored and Jean behind him, wearing sunglasses, is perhaps most famous of the series.
The following year, the Beatles posed individually for Avedon again, in a series used for Look Magazineās poster series and later the LP cover for āLove Songs.ā

Really cool photo. Wonder what railroad it was taken at. Steam tourist lines didn't get really big in much of the country until the late 70s.

They probably gave the first one to Hirch, and asked him him many bites it took.

I was born in 1949 and I had a gun sort of like that, but it was more black and red, as I recall.

Reply to Kazimierz Zeglen (left), Polish priest and inventor of the bulletproof vest, testing out his invention (1869) by krFrillaKrilla
These vests were so easily stolen by criminals from police stations. The Dillinger gang would actually hit the police department first, stealing all the equipment they would later use to rob the towns bank, so when the police responded they had no gear to counter fully armed bank robbers. The Dillinger Gang stole so many of these vests, they were often referred too as the "dillinger vest" by the media at the time.
