I’m a Republican that voted for Josh Shapiro. Mastriano was easily one of the worst candidates I’ve seen on the PAGOP ticket in recent memory. The guy didn’t do any big time interviews, stuck strictly to Newsmax and AM conservative talk show radio stations. He had zero ideas on how to help PA other than crime. Nothing original other than tireless MAGA talking points. He will 100% lose if he becomes nominee without hesitancy.

It's no secret that Democrats paid for the last Mastriano run for office.

> During the 2022 primary season, Democrats actively meddled in a number of Republican races – hoping to boost GOP candidates who they viewed as too extreme (especially on the issue of election denialism) to win general elections. All told, Democrats spent millions of dollars interfering in Republican primaries for Senate, House and governor around the country.

MRG_1977 t1_jbgrk8u wrote

He got smoked in the Governor’s race, in part, because Shapiro outspent him so badly. Mastriano whined and complained for weeks after the election that he lost because of the lack of financial support from the national GOP organization after he got the nomination.

Also left out that even the big money GOP donors in PA including Yass didn’t meaningfully contribute either.

Senate races are obscenely expensive in competitive states and Mastriano has zero personal wealth to utilize.

MRG_1977 t1_jbgrv33 wrote

Want and getting it are two very different things. GOP will more forcefully oppose him in the primary to ensure that Casey doesn’t have an almost automatic reelection.

As a society we really need to figure out ways to stop normalizing this shit. Now, nobody is really freaking out anymore about people like Dr. Oz or Doug Mastriano. We know they are fascistic and corrupt beyond belief but it doesn't seem like we are freaking out about it anymore as a society. It's just the new normal now and it's really depressing. No, this hasn't always been the case and yes, if we don't find a solution, history can repeat itself.

Corruption and the media have de-educated people to the point where they have useful idiots like this running for office. We have to stop treating this like it's just Ol' Crazy Doug Mastriano running again. This is a systemic issue and we need to treat it like one. The problem is billionaires. They have always been the one problem.

We need to stop glorifying and romanticizing useful idiots like Donald Trump, Doug Mastriano, and Dr. Oz. They are not the issue. They have never been the issue. They are the symptoms of an actively oppressed society run by billionaires and it's fucking depressing. Mainstream outlets are actively propping up mentally ill people like this because it is sensational.

If we stop giving these puppets a platform, like we've been trying to do with mass shooters, then they won't be a threat.

You don't understand much about human psychology. When you see a lot of things being rigged, then you assume everything is.

  • Was Bernie knocked out of the running by the DNC?
  • Was Trump-Russian collusion completely made up?
  • Did COVID come from a Chinese virology lab?

Many years of proven lies tends to make people not believe anything. Especially when it is the liar speaking.

It was my understanding that the PA GOP cut a deal with McCormick; if he didn't force a recount and extend the 2022 Primary and let Oz have it. The powers-that-be assured him that they would clear the way for him in 2024.

So either way, if Mastriano does run, it will rip apart what remains of the GOP. Honestly, sensible Republicans need to force the MAGA crowd out of the GOP, make them start their own MAGA/Q-party.

BurghPuppies t1_jbhf1b0 wrote

Let me answer your questions for you:

  • Bernie & Hillary played with the same rules in the 2016 primaries. The point of contention is the role of superdelegates, most of whom were party officials and who presumably would go for Hillary. DYK that Hillary actually won more regular delegates than Bernie, though? So even without superdelegates, he would have lost. Oh, and call me crazy… but don’t the Dems have a right to back the candidate they choose instead of someone who… let’s all say it together… was proudly not even a Democrat??

  • Trump-Russian collusion was never proven, which is a long way from saying it was completely made up. Trump could have helped himself by, oh IDK, not publicly asking Russia for help during his press conferences & campaign rally. It WAS proven that Russia did attempt to sway the election toward Trump through social media and creating sham “media outlets”.

  • It’s still unknown where Covid came from, but the right’s narrative that Dems said it couldn’t have is untrue. This is also a claim pinned to Fauci, who in fact left the door open many times as to its origin. Where it came from has nothing to do with how poorly Trump handled the virus, ranging everywhere from saying it would disappear to praising Chinese president Xi for his handling of it, to suggesting doctors inject both sunlight and disinfectant.

Sorry to hone in so much on Trump, but when you mention lies, he just comes to mind.

20

BurghPuppies t1_jbhf8y6 wrote

Collusion was not proven. But Trump & Putin got pretty cozy, including Trump siding with Putin and against US intelligence on their info AND withholding defensive arms from Ukraine… we see how THAT turned out.

Right. Even though unlimited amounts of money and political power were thrown at it. It was a very big fraud that went on for a very long time. And then everyone wonders why some people are distrustful of the election process.

BurghPuppies t1_jbhi2lw wrote

So, do you mean like the EIGHT Benghazi hearings? Or maybe the Whitewater hearings the GOP held to try to smear Bill & Hillary?

And I’m not sure you can call it a fraud when an investigation happens - under the Republican DOJ and a Republican special counsel - and there is proof of the actions, just not a smoking gun to tie Trump to it. But hey… if that’s your takeaway, then enjoy the tiny little w.

BTW, what every happened to that Durham investigation Trump & Fox News were crowing about??? I guess that passed over us like Q’s “storm”. Still waiting for all those “sealed indictments” to be opened an hundreds of Dems to be arrested. Nice.

3

BurghPuppies t1_jbhikwv wrote

What I’m really waiting for is the investigation into who was paid to push Ivana down the stairs to her death. That’s a common Russian method of enemy elimination. Now who do we know that’s pals with Putin….?

2

BurghPuppies t1_jbhljrx wrote

Now see, you’re getting your scandals mixed up. Easy to have happen, since Trump was pretty much a train wreck.

Steele was indeed writing the report for Fusion GPS, which had been hired by… wait for it… the Republican Party to do opposition research on Trump. (They didn’t want him elected either lol). Anywho, Hillary did indeed end up buying the research, and its contents were eventually turned over to the FBI.

That’s only a small part of the Trump Russia collusion investigation. You conveniently leave out his dealings with Russia over Trump Moscow, his financial debt to Russia, the secret meetings his teams held at Trump Tower with Russian agents, Inna Yashchyshyn, Trump asking Russia publicly to find Hillary’s emails, and much more.

You also forget to mention that THIRTY FOUR people ended up being indicted thanks to the Mueller investigation. And that Mueller said that he could not rule out wrongdoing on Trump’s part, but that he did not have enough to prosecute a winning case.

So, again, if you consider that a win… go for it.

Recall also that:

  1. Bernie is not a Democrat and did not quickly, and never whole-heartedly, back Hillary after he lost. (Thanks for trump, Bern.)
  2. Trump’s campaign manager, paul manafort, was a paid putin asset whose resume includes helping install another putin asset in Ukraine before Zelensky was elected.
  3. The possibility of covid coming from that wuhan virus research facility was never fully discounted by Fauci, even to this day.

The secret to getting what you want in politics is to be involved in politics. Most Americans checked out decades ago. Religious folk did not. They stayed, manipulated, cajoled, paid, bribed, greased, streamlined, and just generally made things happen in politics in favor of them.

So, they get what they want. The rest of us just complained online.

There is a lot more to politics than voting, and right now the authoritarian Christians are the ones doing all the extra shit the most. Saying "it's illegal" to something is kind of meaningless when the power that is meant to make it illegal is being controlled by the group doing the illegal shit.

We can keep saying "that's illegal" until the entire US constitution is re-written and it is simply not illegal anymore because that is what they wanted.
