No chips. You should not call fathers baby daddy. They should be fathers. If the father is subsidizing the mother, that's their familial choice. Why do I care?
Father's have equal responsibility. So it's not subsidizing a mother to be a mother. It's subsidizing parents to be parents because it would help out both "mommy" and "baby daddy" as you say.

Didn't know this about Erie, but non-profits not paying taxes hurts a lot of cities and towns. They really need to pay property taxes.
In Philly the universities buy land and play developer, then don't have to pay taxes on any of the student housing they develop. It's ridiculous.
Church buildings used for worship can be exempt I guess, that's not worth the 1st amendment fight, but everybody else? Pay up.

You have some chip on your shoulder. This conversation was about subsidizing a stay at home mom so that she could stay at home. I am assuming baby daddy is paying for mommy to not work.

Councilmember Pat Toomey was actually instrumental in getting it passed, lol
Probably the only good decision he ever made.

Only gas purchasers pay. It’s the gas tax. Do you ever use the roads? Then you should pay.

So if the USA adopts the same rules as France, that would be acceptable?

People are constantly saying "raise taxes, lower taxes, raise taxes, lower taxes" and I'm over here like "how about we just be more fiscally conscience and keep government accountable?"

ah, yes, super lax, especially when in some states you have to carry a dead fetus to term and risk dying because of it!

More like the horror of having to raise 30 of someone else's children year round. As someone who would love to teach, but also does not want children of my own, I can see why this would be terrible.

Altoona's so empty that Sheetz built their Technology & Innovation Center in Pittsburgh because they couldn't get young people to move to Altoona at any price.

A significant proportion of Pennsylvania's population saw their first paycheck at age 16 had deductions taken out, and have been mad ever since.

Do you have some sort of objection to a government-run program?

> If I pay $100 a month for house insurance for a year and at the end of that year my house burns down and I’m given $250,000 to rebuild, that doesn’t mean I was never an “insurance payer”.
Your analogy does not make sense. Government means tested benefits are not one time payments.
If your house burns down every year, and you get $250,000 every year while you only pay $1200 every year into the insurance pool... that's an accurate analogy.
If you give $1 to the government in taxes, and the government gives you $10 right back, that doesn't mean you can be counted on as a source of taxes for the next redistribution program that the government comes up with. This isn't rocket science to understand. This is basic math.
But I highly suspect that it's not that you don't understand, you just want to ignore inconvenient facts. That's what Reddit does, come up with a false narrative and ignore basic facts.

In a true LVT situation, your income would NOT be taxed, only the Land if you choose to purchase it. So you would not be double taxed.
