It is poor there but I can’t say it’s much worse than Philly or any other city.

Nobody with the authority to cut funding to police has the desire to push for it. So they think they can work around it by making the police the source of these services.
Greed and/or cowardice, either way it's a pathetic half measure that's going to do more harm than good in the long run.

Yea these people shouldn’t be police department employees. They need to be completely separate.

Holy shit this seems so cool, and I literally live 15 minutes away from it and didn't know about this. I've driven past the house on my way to work a few times.
Definitely going to check it out

I don't like it. We need trained professionals not involved with police for positions like this.

Career link is utterly useless, both as a job seeker and being an employer with positions to fill

This is a thoughtful and logical step to take that other areas should really follow. A friend of mine is a state police officer in Virginia and has first hand experienced situations were mental health expertise was the real necessity and not just someone with full mental capacity committing an act that violates the laws, like they are trained to handle.

From the Pagoda, walk through the woods to Peace Rock. Blue marsh park is nice. If you can drive over to St Peter’s Village, that’s very worth the trip. Cell service is bad there.

When you can buy a house for $16k, that happens.

Yeah I know I’m going to get downvoted, but I’m just being honest. It’s a little bit sketchy everywhere. The city has some beautiful architecture though. There’s plenty of awesome art deco buildings. There’s even good food. The whole place just has a backdrop of crime, poverty, and desperation that is kind of hard to reconcile with while you’re there.

*Our
The city had to spend PUBLIC MONEY to buy a real fake tree because of that debacle. That tree was donated. It looked better in the woods.

I don't drink but I was definitely thinking about going there at night, but it's a state park right? I don't have to pay for admission? And do you have any recommendations for restaurants?

FYI, the law states that you must complete 2 applications and one work search activity per week(this includes searching jobs on indeed, Linkin etc), and register on the Career links site within 30 days.
You only submit that info if asked, which you'd do through the PA Unemployment portal where you file your weekly benefits claim. Normally they'll only ask for verification of your employment searches if you're seeking an extension.
Otherwise continue to file your weekly certification and make sure you're logged into whatever job search engine you're using so it's keeping track of your application history.

the pagoda can get super crowded and unenjoyable if it's a really nice day- sometimes it's better at night or super early in the morning for the sun rise! there's a lot of good hole in the wall restaurants. for food go to penn ave there's a few breweries and nicer places. sly fox and beer wall are super good. for pretty nature definitely check out blue marsh :)

This is an excellent suggestion I live about an hour for there but could never find anyone who wanted to go with me. Museums aren’t for everyone I guess.
