I'd posit that they treat them like I treat a rental car. Pushed to the physical limits with no concerns about the long-term repercussions.

Yes, No. They do pay taxes but they don't pay into Social Security, Medicare, or unemployment. They are not entitled to collect benefit from it either.

They do use electricity just not in the home. They can use electricity in their outbuildings and buildings used for business.

They have a huge market in Timonium, MD and make the best hot wings I've ever had.

I grew up near Lancaster county and I always heard that they don’t pay taxes because of some religious rule.

Oh cool. I didn’t know there was such a thing as buggy horse rehab/rehoming. That’s awesome that you do that!

A very accurate analogy. Some owners spend tens of thousands of dollars on a high end horse and devote lots of time and money to maintenance - chiropractor, massage, specialty diet supplements. Others run their horse ragged on minimal care and their horse is the equivalent to an '89 Chevy Cavalier. Some horses also just hold up better physically to the demands of the job.
Source me. I've been retiring and recycling ex buggy horses into new careers for over 20 years in central PA. There are good and bad in their community just like ours. Im not a fan of generalizations about whole groups of people.

Agree. Painting them all with the same brush on the basis of individual actions is plain wrong. A kind, hard working community in general.

Amish do vote. As a Lancaster County resident I have seen plenty of Amish men at the polls.

Conservatives: rah rah freedom of speech I can say what I want
People: this is a sad loss of life but probably due to their crazy fucking beliefs
Conservatives: WTF? MODS? COMPLIANCE OFFICER?
Everyone above me in this comment chain truly needs to touch grass. This story is beyond believable and makes perfect sense if you are from YoCo. You can feel bad and still point out the pervasively negative effects of Qanon and Qanon-lite thinking.

I grew up 15 minutes from here. Red Lion, PA (another nearby York suburb) went down the Trump hole to the extreme. This entire story and their beliefs are completely unsurprising if you’ve spent any amount of time here.
I’m just a random person on the internet so you don’t have to believe me, but it’s hard not to run into people like this in SoYoCo (or anywhere in YoCo)

About 10% of Amish do vote, and they overwhelmingly supported Trump.

>queen of England
Did you mean the former Queen of the United Kingdom, the former Queen of Canada, the former Queen of Australia, etc?
The last Queen of England was Queen Anne who, with the 1707 Acts of Union, dissolved the title of King/Queen of England.
####FAQ
Wasn't Queen Elizabeth II still also the Queen of England?
This was only as correct as calling her the Queen of London or Queen of Hull; she was the Queen of the place that these places are in, but the title doesn't exist.
Is this bot monarchist?
No, just pedantic.
I am a bot and this action was performed automatically.

I'm not blaming the queen of England either and she rants about that too. It's very possible they were all bipolar bc it runs in families.
