I know the time I went, we were at PSU, many rather loaded, but someone had worked late and was sober, drove us over. I don't recall drinking much more there, but I did have a flask, and I wasn't being open about it.

Unless you can work from home, be careful. Very cheap rent usually means crap jobs. You get what you pay for. Make sure you check out the area and the place itself. Look for water damage, crime %, what stores are around etc.

I went to university about half hour away, but never actually got the chance to go.
I almost had the chance once. A group of my Fraternity Brothers randomly decided they wanted to head out at like midnight or so... Unfortunately I was on duty (working as an RA) & had to stay in the dorm till 7am so I wasn't able to jump in the car and head out ...

I moved to Altoona from Tacoma, Washington. Come talk to me about grey skies and drizzle. This is nothing! 🙂

It's a little too easy if you ask me. Most of these people shouldn't have a license...

That’s because they also lay down a special brine mix that is super super salty. A lot of it comes from leftover drilling and wastewater

The best is just to keep the salt off as much as possible.
the worst thing about the salt is the temperatures warming up during the day and the snow and ice with salt melting. also it is worse if you park in a warm garage every night compared to leaving your car out in the cold. keep in mind to the salt is worse on the metal underneath than the painted car. I've seen <5 y/o cars rusted out to the point of no return, if salt isn't manaeged

I knew a mechanic who had a undercarriage washer for his hose, his car he would do underneath every night as he pulled it into the garage.

Reply to comment by Successful-Land8681 in What is the appropriate French Drain depth in PA ? by Dredly
My ultimate 2 problems are 1. my backyard and side yard just basically is unusable for a day or 2 after rain because of the water and 2. massive runoff is eroding the edges of my driveway, causing it to crack and I REALLY don't want to replace it if I can avoid it...

only thing I can think of is to divert the water around the 2 problem areas... but I can't go the "easy" path as its fully blocked by my driveway (it has a "T" section that goes to a separate garage, so its not as simple as just run a drain along it

Any car wash that has a subscription near me is all touch.... Thanks I prefer to not have scratches from the almost too high lifted truck caked in mud and rocks that would go before me.

Absolutely facts. So true. I couldn’t tell someone to just live somewhere, bc it’s cheap- without informing them of everything else they’re getting into! And believe me the least of it. Is a cheap apartment!

I don’t know what parts of Philly you’ll find a whole house for rent under 1k a month! I owned properties in Philly and sold them. My in laws all own many rental properties and they’re actually very fair when it comes to their rentals. And even they don’t have anything for under 1k a month. Their cheapest is a 2 bdrm 1 bath, for 1200 plus utilities. But it’s also been completely renovated just about a year or so ago, so it’s immaculate, and honestly most landlords would be asking more or less 1500-1800 for this specific property. I’ve seen units that are “affordable” if you want to wear Kevlar from head to toe.

There are a lot of places in Pennsylvania that you could pay less than that for a mortgage. I think it depends whether you mind living in the middle of nowhere, ie where you can't get a pizza delivered

My sis in law moved from Philly to Altoona, we took bets on how long before she came back! We all overestimated her! Lol! She just couldn’t adjust out there after growing up in good ole South Philly!
