Likewise, not my tradition but it's pretty cool to learn about new holidays. Plus, if people who do celebrate it want to get together with family this makes it easier.

To quote /u/Zenith2017, ¿por que no los dos?
20 paid days a year, plus 12 federal holidays (1 per month) would be fantastic.
There should not be a month without a 3 day weekend. August, get your act together!

Or, set minimum paid leave standards (e.g. 20 days a year for working 5 days-a-week) for all workers. Then people can take off whatever holidays they desire.

I know I will get downvoted to hell, but good! We need even tighter regulations or re-evaluate eligible people. I work in a high volume busy grocery/goods retailer outside Philly and no lie, it seems like everyone and their brother has an EBT card with high balances, most of which can't speak a lick of English to even know what button to hit on the pin pad for food, but are just fine pulling out wads of cash to pay for the items that aren't covered in their order. Or they have a cartload of items clearly going to be used in someones restaurant or bodega. bags of flour, nothing but cases of soda and energy drinks, etc. This occurs so many times a day I can't even keep count. Let me be clear I have zero issues with those that need EBT for those that truly need help, but 90% of the transactions I see are straight up abuse.

The cruelty is the point. The entire social safety net is two tin cans tied together by string at this point.

That’s honestly pretty cool. I mean I don’t celebrate it, but I think it’s good to have holidays from across the world that are recognized and celebrated in our country and state in general. Get us back to the cosmopolitan ideals that are meant to be what the U.S. is all about.

Sure they can. I was there a few years ago so don't know how it is now, but I'd say go on a weekend when there is less likely to be construction work, if they started anything there yet.

Nature's Promise makes a spray that gets rid of cat urine smells, it breaks down the enzymes in cat urine. You can also get products that absorb odors, such as activated charcoal bags, idk if they work for cat urine though. It doesn't seem like there's an easy answer for you. I don't like the dog in a cage all the time, that's horrible, but idk the circumstances. I did thought that rescues or fosters had to have cats spayed/neutered, that would stop the marking, but again, idk all the details. I would Google products you can buy to help eliminate the smell to your home. Cat urine is strong and will definitely aggravate asthma. Good luck!

If it's a state holiday, I think the schools are off.
My job gets the federal holidays, so I would probably still have to work. Honestly, still fighting for Juneteenth. The holiday was created AFTER our most recent contract, so even though the language says "federal holidays" I get the feeling they're gonna hold out until our next contract.

How many proposals by students, teachers, or administrators have been shot down because there's no money for them in the budget?

Non-"profits" of course, still have executives and upper management that can be compensated crazy sums of money. Just putting it out there so people know.

In my area it’s the SHELTER that gives people the kitties to foster. I meant the shelter vets the people.

I love that movie (and specifically that scene) as well! I think that's definitely true, there are people who have great enjoyable lives and its all noodle salad, but even they have bad days and tough times. Every person that has ever lived has felt some level of pain, but certainly some muh less than others.

With you, and love mail-in ballots, but have you heard about the party that's trying to end mail-in voting in PA (after voting unanimously for it in the PA Senate previously)?

I don't think this is the place to come to complain about this. Make a report to city hall or something. Nobody here on Reddit (of all places, why reddit?) can help you.

That’s what Mail-in ballots accomplish. So if we had an Election Day holiday AND mail-in then everybody is covered
