What is the actual percentage? Other reasons might be because we have an elderly population that doesn’t pay much income tax.

> Also do you think those natural gas rates are higher because of democratic or Republican actions in PA?

democrats have a crazy philosophy of not destroying land and ecosystems in the name of exporting cheap energy out of state

New Mexico? Colorado?

I love the inclusion and respect for minority beliefs in Pennsylvania, seemingly on a at least somewhat bipartisan level... However, the state isn't supposed to sponsor religious holidays in the first place. This violates the establishment clause. And yes Christians, so does Christmas.

Also, I'm sorry to disappoint but I don't think this means everyone of your bosses are going to give you a payed day off. 😅

What are they supposed to do, enact sweeping socialist price controls? If they did that, the Rs would throw a shitfit.

These price increases, from food to gasoline to rent and housing and utilities, are price gouging. Probably not a good thing that business can punish the electorate of this country because they only got 95% of what they wanted.

I'd like to see evidence that there is not enough funding.

Or even get a definition of what "experienced homelessness" means. Does it include cases where there was a house fire and a family with kids were at a shelter for a few days? Does it include kids that has a fight with their parents and were runaways? How long was the average span of a stay at a shelter?

What they are saying certainly doesn't mean 750 students were homeless for the duration of the whole year.

Yes, a portion of the Shippensburg area code is in Franklin County. Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds in either county might have records. Not sure if they charge a nominal fee or will do it for free, but you probably ask for them to search their records. Might pull up a will or transfer of property. The Prothonotary in PA also oversees all civil procedure records in the Court of Common Pleas. If your relative was an orphan or had some kind of trust, there might be records there as well. Family search looks like it has baptismal books from the German Reformed Church online. With names like that, you’ll want to make sure you have birth and death records and middle names. The PA State Archives and Department of Health can help with birth and death certificates.

Your state historic and museum commission may offer free ancestry.com access. Libraries also offer it for free.

Let me know if I can be of any other assistance. I live close to Shippensburg and can take photos, etc.

This is the end of the emergency benefits related to COVID. SNAP is supposed to have a sliding scale that decreases benefits as income goes up. For a long time it has been just a binary yes/no because if you're eligible you get the maximum for your household.

If you’re a car guy, the Carlisle Fairgrounds has a show almost every weekend - Corvettes, Ford, Dodge, then if summer show with tons of classic and vintage cars. It keeps things hopping in downtown. There are a number of street fairs and a Farmers’ Market every Wednesday. Summers also have First Fridays downtown with different themes. Fireworks on the Fourth of July.

If you like to fish, bring your gear because the streams around here are pretty decent. You just need a license.

They just built a (small) skate park, plus there is a public pool and a YMCA (newly renovated.) Kids from Dickinson and Penn State do stick around for the summer, but not a lot. You’ll probably meet people mostly through work and your neighborhood, which is what most of us do.

What do you mean by “night life”? If you’re talking place you can go with friends, have food, or snacks and adult beverages and talk, Carlisle has you covered. As others pointed out, there’s microbrews, bars and restaurants with liquor licenses.

If you’re talking live bands and dancing, that’s Harrisburg (about 30 minutes away.)

It’s about two hours to DC, Philly and Baltimore, where you can see major concerts/museums/events. Though a fair few decent acts show up at Hershey Stadium (40-min drive), HMAC and Sunoco Theatre (Harrisburg). Touring casts of Broadway shows come to the Hershey Theatre. SIX, Hadestown and Come from Away are playing this season.

OH. And in case no one mentioned it, you can’t exactly buy wine/beer in the grocery store. And all liquor must be bought at the state store (PA Wine and Spirits shop.) You can get wine/beer/six-packs at the grocery store and Sheetz (convenience store), but they have to paid for separately.
