The cops gave up on traffic enforcement a long time ago. Too many people to manage that way. We could probably make automated systems to handle it, like we do with stop light cameras, but lawyers 20+ years ago fked us on that avenue. We could create stricter licensing requirements and require re-examination every 5 years or so, but without any reasonable public transit alternative the entire working class would go bankrupt as soon as they fail their written test. Which almost everyone will do.

Yes, but it's not a surprise they think like that when so many people do it.

If you go into any parking lot, one out of every 10 cars probably has something illegal. Whether it's mis aimed lights, window tint, license plate covers, bike racks that cover the plate, wheels that stick past the fenders, extra loud mufflers, things hanging from the rear view mirror, the list is massive. Since almost nothing ever happens to most people, the law feels pretty optional.

It was around $32k. That was for a Mitsubishi hyper heat condenser, with 2 air handlers (one in the basement for first floor, one in the attic for 2nd floor) and them installing all the duct work. (I only had baseboard heat previously)
I also had them put a mini split in the finished part of my basement. This was also with the kumo cloud wireless adapters so it can be app controlled.

I got quotes from 3 places, and they were the most reasonable (I used Carjon for the install) one company quoted me nearly $50k using the exact same equipment. I then got a $3500 rebate which the company gave me all the forms for. They let me finance it at 0% for 18 months.

I did look at going with mini splits instead of ducts, but since the condensers max out at 5 heads, and I would have needed 6 or 7, which would have required 2 outdoor condenser units, so it ended up being a similar price to go with a fully ducted install.

I get it, I have a really strong and visceral reaction to some scents. I use this laundromat myself though and there usually aren’t a lot of people there. Tbh if you just go in with a mask and do $40 worth of quarters and buy a thing of detergent in the vending machine (I think they have clear all) they probably don’t care.

Get a solid SEER rating, but always understand how they work and their efficiency due to outside temperature. The heat pumps work excellent right up until it drops below 40. They are still usable but draw more electricity until about 5 degrees where most give up. Also understand the BTU ratings. If it takes a 100k BTU heating system to heat your house you will still need 100k BTU's to heat your house so a 30k unit will not get the job done especially seeing most only give 80% when used for heat.

Some laundromats have change machines, mine does. Just do one load there and use the machine

Green jeans on 44 in Smithfield has a machine

As opposed to the "let's prevent housing developers from building any housing at all?" regardless of the eventual clientele? Yeah that's a great theory.

How much money does a developer have to spend to have to build new places in RI renting for $500-1200? Figure that out and then ask "well if it costs that much why would they do it?

In this case the answer is this guy is ready to spend money to build a building. There are no/few others that are willing.

It seems to me that the type of person that believes that they’re so special that they shouldn’t have to obey speed limits is also the type to leave the scene of an accident or evade being identified after committing any crime. I just don’t understand the lax enforcement. It’s right out there in your face.

Lots of ego and name calling around here. Long on feelings, short on facts.

This city is going to end up with a raw deal if they go with Fane. They will have to give him even more tax breaks. Then if he does get the tower open, it will probably end up like the tower in Portsmouth. It’ll open right before or in the middle of an housing slump or recession and sit mostly vacant for a long time.
