Interesting, thanks for the data and links.

Bristol has 96 official listing so probably has more in reality. It has a population of 22.5k people. Assuming the average AirB&B would house 2.5 people it's about 1% of Bristols housing. I'm not sure that would drop house prices much, but it is a significant amount of housing.

Had good luck with Hyannis Honda on the Cape. Did everything via email, they drove the car to Little Compton for the VIN check, and met me at Middletown DMV. They drove my old car back, I took delivery of the new (used) car at the DMV. Got an ‘18 CR-V that has been a pleasure to drive. They have a couple good CR-V options on their site now that may be worth a look.

Aquastetics in Fall River is hands down the best specialty aquarium store in New England, especially if you're into aquascaping. They're one of the only retailers of ADA, UNS, Tropica, and many other premium over-seas aquarium goods in the area. One of the owners, Nick, is really passionate about spreading the art of aquascaping here in the states and is really knowledgeable about hobby. HUGE selection of rare aquarium plants, hardscape, and fish; they also offer a reasonably priced CO2 tank exchange service for more high-tech planted tanks.

When I've been doing stories on short-term rentals, all the data points to them being highly concentrated in the coastal towns (Newport, Middletown, Portsmouth) and very few everywhere else, especially per capita.

State lookup tool, need to do it by town:

Example: Warwick has 47 current listings but AirDNA, a company that tracks listings, puts it closer to 73.

But Warwick's population is 83k, with 27k single-family homes, 2.4k units in two-family, 1.9k in three familys and 5.5k in apartment complexes.

Property rights and water rights in the west are two very, very different things.

A more appropriate 1-to-1 would have been Houston, which has no zoning laws.

Both. Took my Ranger to Cranston because I was getting a free sandwich with my oil change, when Quicklane took hours for an oil change I switched to Seekonk Quicklane (if I’m going to wait, at least I’ll be closer to home)

Bought my first Escape from Flood in EG and took it to the QL across the way and had no issues (got any other work at Tasca in Seekonk, because Flood service department is horrendous). Got my second Escape from Flood in Gansett, took it to EG for oil changes then decided to switch over to Tasca for convenience.

I will never buy a Ford again. Happy with my Toyota and the service I receive at Bristol Toyota

Depending on your mom's age, check out the senior center if there are any activities going on that she would be interested in, ditto the libraries in the town. You can always get some books, puzzles, games and movies to check out and take home.

Make a reservation for afternoon tea at Val's English Tea and Pie shop.

Take a hike/walk on an unseasonably warm winter afternoon.

Go antiquing at Stillwater Antiques or keep driving up 44 and check out the many antique shops in Chepachet Village.

Really interesting to hear the feedback about working for Hasbro. From the outside looking in I had always had the impression that they were the best place to work of the major RI corporations (CVS, Citizens, Fidelity, IGT and Hasbro). Seems like I was mistaken.
