I'm not sure how I feel about the cameras. I'm mostly on the side of dislike, but I think that has more to do with the implementation, not that cameras should be forbidden. I think there is potential to do it the right way, but I don't really have enough information to make a well informed decision. I definitely don't want fines used as revenue for cities and towns.

RI has gone downhill pretty badly the last 10-15 years. Beaches are being taken over by property owners who hire their own private security. Taxes out of control. The level of poverty across the state is shocking. Terrible schools except for maybe 5 towns. Bankrupt. Single political party that runs unopposed many times. But worse, an electorate that thinks it’s okay, and would rather focus on fringe activism.

We came from NYC / NJ, and I have to say that’s the best way to put it - there are plenty that are fine and a bunch that are just terrible.

We’ve resorted to just buying bagels when we visit my wife’s mother.

Yeah true you're right. I usually refer to them as neon even though they are not "neon" in the correct sense. Im not sure what else to call them? Safety green? Bright yellow? I was under the impression that they are only placed in school zones so their presence alone indicates a school zone.

To add on to this question, does anyone know where to get a marble rye bagel?

I’ve seen rye, I’ve seen pumpernickel, but never the two together. (Doesn’t look like Bagel Gourmet, Krash Korner, or Hudson have them)

Also yeah Providence Bagel used to be great, but they’ve been skimping on their seasonings lately. I’ve had decent ones at Bagel Express in Pawtuxet Village, but not 100% there

As a fellow Ex NYer - there are loads of us it seems - I am watching this thread with great interest.

As a corollary - I've found Cindy's Diner in Scituate (I think) is the closest to a traditional NY/NJ style diner in the state, and would recommend that as well.
