You’ll be better off in MA when it comes to education.

Massachusetts is light years ahead of Rhode Island in all aspects of education, to the point where our goals for the future are tied to the levels that MA is at presently.

As for tax benefits, if your ex works in MA but lives in RI, he’ll pay taxes in RI and have to file his taxes in both. Anything withheld in MA will be remitted to RI.

But an attorney will handle all of this with ease.

You’ll also have to file in MA, as that’s where the two of you lived.

I am currently working on my masters at 43. I have not been in school since 2004.... Older and wiser is a big help. You will find it easier than you expect due to your maturity level. Happy for you!

I believe you can only use AAA if you’re already a RI resident and are already established with the state registration. I had AAA but had to do everything at the DMV since I was from out of state.
