As of 1 Jan all new registrations, replacements for lost or damaged plates, and registration renewals will result in you receiving the new plate design. u/medicmechanist38 has also replied to my comment saying that the renewal plates already have the stickers attached to them.

The DMV doesn't want old plates turned in. I've had my plates since 1997 and there's actually some sentimental value, so I'm glad I can hold onto them.

Check out Rhode Island Monthly’s website. I get the magazine and check the website often. There’s a lot of random things like festivals and markets that I found out about through them. A lot if it is geared toward warmer weather, but there’s some good stuff on there.

DETAILS FROM THE STORY: A federally-funded two-year initiative is expected to launch next week to help combat misinformation in Rhode Island and help minimize online violence and extremism.
The new program, dubbed Courageous RI, was designed by the University of Rhode Island’s Media Education Lab, and was funded through a $700,000 grant from the US Department of Homeland Security. The initiative, which will be rolled out in three phases, has been tasked with fostering community conversations, providing training and education, and engaging youth. The trainings look to help participants across sectors become “more resilient to propaganda and disinformation.”
The initiative will formally launch at an in-person event at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the Rhode Island State House, kicking off a series of free virtual sessions that are open to the public. Officials including Rhode Island Secretary of State Gregg Amore, Republican State Representative Brian Newberry, and Democrat State Senator Hanna Gallo are expected to offer remarks.

Check out the "Discover"-type Instagram accounts for places like Newport, Warren, Providence, South County, (wherever) - they usually curate a nice set of events or cool things to know about, etc.

Those ridiculously good street food/wrap things the Pita Pocket vendor makes are worth heading out to the Mount Hope market alone! 🤤

(Can anyone tell me what they are called?! I am embarrassed I don't know, and also more people need to know so they can order them!)

A way to fight this is to highlight good landlords so that they may set the example for the slumlords of the state. Hold up those that protect and nurture the community instead of sucking it dry for profit.

I'm currently attempting to get out of bed to go to a farmers market. Farm Fresh is my go-to Saturday market but Mount Hope is also enjoyable.

Instagram is my usual source for events (I follow local musicians, market planners, and pop ups). Google is easy too.

Some folks also use FB events and EventBrite.

Think of the people you went to high school with. How many of them paid attention in geography? How many were there only because they had to be? How many spouted the "I'll never use this info after I graduate" line? And Rhode Island isn't exactly a headline grabbing place either so it's below the radar for lots of folks. It's not a freak show like Florida or a shootout a month like Texas.
