I cant help with the first part but I found out about a beer and cheese tasting by liking Edgewoods cheese business on Facebook, a pasta making class from liking litl rhody pasta company's page. I also follow ri food trucks for their events and news. I just start liking small local businesses that are active in communities and eventually they post an event that sounds intresting!

Incorrect. States can no longer do that. It’s free speech. The Supreme Court has ruled on the matter. Having FKGAS or BOOB is now constitutionally protected speech. So instead of allowing DICK on a license plate they stopped issuing any vanity plates. My place “BALLZ” has been pending.

RISD Museum is always a good go to if you’re into any type of art or display of the creative minds. Parking’s always “fun”, but Bolt Coffee will warm you right up.

And if this feels oddly specific, it is in fact because I am at Bolt Coffee at RISD museum warming up to coffee 😀

Everywhere we GO! south or West of NYC

I dunno which is more odd to deal with. People thinking RI is an actual island

or People who have never heard of it. Americans! "Oh is that part of Long Island? or the Bahamas?"

Like. WTF!?

I cannot believe the discrimination in this sub against PoL like this landlord. Poor fella travels here from India 🇮🇳, becomes a citizen, saves his pennies to buy income property…and these priveliged white folks who drink Starbucks all day whine about his properties.

Maybe they should pool their cash and buy their own property

I taught a course like this at a RI institution of higher ed a few years back.I was utterly blown away by the complete lack of knowledge about source credibility. 20-ish students in the class, and I bet 16 of them walked in the door on the first day convinced that "if it's on the internet, it must be true."

I honestly have no idea what the local public high schools were doing.

Just to throw a funny story out there. A few years ago I went to Europe with my dad. A man who never travels outside the state, except Seekonk and Attleboro. I warned him that nobody would know of RI, so just say we are from outside of Boston. He did not like the idea of saying he was from Boston.

A few days into the trip, we ran across a family from California. My dad jumps on the chance to say we are from RI. Me and my sister look at each other, knowing where this is going to go. The parents seems confused, but act like they know. The teenage girl with them, said something along the lines of "oh I love the hamptons". I corrected her, saying no not Long Island, Rhode Island. She responded that she "knew". But clearly she didn't.

A side not, I graduated H.S. out in Phoenix. Nobody there knew what RI was. They all just assumed it was a synonym for Long Island. However, on a trip to HI, a waiter knew of RI and referred to it as "one of the colonies". Something I had never heard before.
