That's true, they are! Pretty much the only thing I see regularly fried, other than fish & chips

I appreciate oysters prepared in many ways, I can't believe nobody fries them here.

Kind of is. It's usually fun early in the day, when every one is feeling festive, but it typically takes a dark turn pretty quick and if you're not a big drinker it's a sloppy mess.

Please stop by frog and toad when you visit (Westminster) and you will find some neat things. If you visit the one on Hope street, you can also check what Stock Culinary Goods may have as a gift (ri sea salt from one of our ocean’s is neat if they like to cook). I don’t know if they have it anymore, but I bought my ex a spoon rest that was made out of an RI oyster shell and glazed with ceramic.

We're not big on the frying of seafood. Best fresh oysters: Matunuck Oyster Bar, Midtown Oyster Bar, DeWolf Tavern, Providence Oyster Bar, and Two Ten.

Stop & Shop has a small section of RI products, so you could put together a gift bag of treats. If you can get the Buddy Cianci marinara sauce, that's a definite choice. Iggy's clam cake mix or Doughboy mix, Del's lemonade mix, and Kenyon's pancake mix, if they have it. That would make a great gift!

As much as this is probably a joke, I feel like this would be great for my girlfriend and I. Pre-children we spent many a late drunken nights hanging out here when we first started dating. Their food isn’t the best, but it is at 3am. And it brings back a lot of good memories.

You’re better off getting a hotel room the night before and night of unless you’ll have someone else driving.
The bars get packed early in the morning and there is effectively zero parking available on the streets. If you get a hotel, they usually have a shuttle that will take you right to the parade.

It's literally the biggest day of the year for Newport drinking establishments. By mid-afternoon, most of the town is shit faced and people are passed out on sidewalks. The Police & Fire News section of the Newport Daily News on Monday after the parade is usually a full page long - mostly open container and public urination charges. The nicer the weather, the bigger the turnout.
