I'm sorry for you and your grandmother's loss...

If you really want to get rid of it cheap. Take the cover off, give it a cleaning and take a bunch of photos. Find out all you can about the make and model and then post it for sale or an add for a free boat and trailer. My guess is that the boat may have a good reputation. It may be why your grandfather decided he wanted to restore it. Someone else may feel the same way!

You could even post it up here to see if anyone knows anything about it. Some boats have support groups where you'd get good advice and maybe an interested party.

You can donate it to charity for a tax write-off. It’s super easy, they will come pick it up (even if it’s completely dead) and do the rest, and send you a receipt in the mail. It helps a cause you care about, but the receipt you receive will be for a fair amount less than you might expect.

As far as “bang for your buck” goes. If it’s truly a parts car, either put it up on FB/Craigslist or call around to some junkyards & small autofix places to get some numbers. You’ll have to do a little more work here but who knows maybe someone will want to pay for it.

You could try getting it to a Saturn dealership to see if they’d trade it in for any value at all toward a new/used vehicle but you’d have to get it to drive onto the lot for that.

When I was a kid, many of my Portuguese friends' homes had essentially a working kitchen and family room in the basement. The kitchen, living room and dining room on the main level featured glistening appliances, furniture and decorations, and were reserved for when special guests came over. Otherwise, family life took place in the basement.

Because the basement was made to be a self contained apartment, either for extended family living down there or did it to be rented out. My grandfather finished his with two bedrooms, a living room, bathroom, closets, a private entrance, etc.
