I know the guys start early, but there is no overnight parking there, so if they show up, no shops are open, but there are cars, they know what’s up. The shops in there struggle enough, they don’t need people taking their parking spaces during the only time of year they make money.

However, the owner of a private school, now in a position to make budgetary decisions that can marginalize their public competitor is uh... not good. Especially when the owner is politically aligned with those that argue for the dissolution of the Dept of Education and public schools as a whole etc.

While I'm not familiar with the exact situation in Chariho, my experience with public preschool was that there was very limited availability. Private ones are an absolute necessity (or they are in my area).

Camp Cronin is my go to. I've never seen the lot blocked off because it's technically a fishing area. I've watched the sunrise there, gone at night etc.

I moved here from Portland, OR. I'd never even heard of a nip until I moved here. Not sure what they do over there, if these just don't exist or there is a deposit, or what, but you don't see them littered everywhere like you do here. The story doesn’t mention it but Johnson is also owner of the Goddard School in S Kingston a private Preschool. Chariho also has a preschool program. So you have an unelected appointee who votes on public school budgets and policies.
