Weirdly enough I have a couple friends who say they have masshealth and a RI address and aren’t even trying to hide it, like their paperwork even has their RI addresses. But I’m not touching that with a 10 foot pole lol.

Thanks, a lot of people have told me finding a doctor is impossible. I didn’t realize it would be so bad. It’s such a catch 22, rent here in mass is abysmal but the healthcare is so good, meanwhile the rent in providence is noticeably cheaper but without healthcare that means nothing…

I make way less than that and I can afford a 2 bed in prov with nothing included for 1000. If you want to live on your own you have to prioritize where your money goes. What's more important to you ? a roof over your head or take out and partying every weekend not saying that's what you do but sacrifices are what you need to figure out first . Because you will not find anything decent under 1000 anymore because I've been looking myself since I want out of the city.

Thanks for responding. Insurance wouldn’t cover a custom mouth guard either so this isn’t surprising.

I’m going to an ENT at the end of the month and my pcp suggested asking them how to get Botox covered by insurance for headaches. Maybe it’s possible (doubt it)? If I find a way, I will follow up on this post.

Edit: for headaches caused by tmj

I love Providence, but I don't think any place is worth your health. Why not just live 5 minutes across the border?

I have had good experiences on private insurance here, but to reinforce what others have said, the best and most qualified specialist I have ever had was abruptly laid off along with the whole team because their specialty was too costly (and not an uncommon one! Common like gynecology). Now all the former patients seem to drive to Boston to see them since we'd never find someone to replace this doctor here.

RI's loss.

Sorry my man but you will not find a whole apartment to rent for $800, they don’t exist anymore! And if someone is paying that currently it’s only cuz they prob been there for ages

I was living in a 3 bedroom that was less than a 1 bedroom when I last moved (and 1k less than the 3 bedroom apartment listed in the building next door). I can't speak too specifically to Woonsocket, but I tell this story because I can tell you with fair certainty that you won't find much for less than $1500 (in PVD) and 99% certainty that you won't find something 800 or less. I admit I may be way off on Woonsocket overall, but I have seen some insane rents posted online for Woony on social media.

You also have to be ready to absorb the fallout of some crazy rent hikes. I have friends who used to live comfortably in 1 bedrooms a few years back and now with more income are under constant stress to keep up with the market rate adjustments every renewal and utility hikes. You can see it on their faces when they are nearly in tears discussing the situation.

I now live with my partner, but one thing I never regret are the many years I spent with roommates in that cheap apartment because it afforded me so many opportunities. Just my two cents.

Kerry is a gem. She offered me some good advice after I brought her a couple absolute messes of 120 rolls when I was first starting out and even refused to charge me for the first one because she wanted me to get better first. I will only go to her shop as long as it's open, she beats Hunts on film prices too. Worth noting that she doesn't do black and white but anyone else around here just sends it out anyway. Neither Hunt's nor CameraWerks develop in house and have a 2ish week turnaround, while Kerry has same day (often same hour depending on the order) turnaround for cheaper.

Not to diss on Camera Werks, she's very nice as well.

watch out for this, RI has a higher income threshold on SS for accepting people on Medicaid. That is you could qualify for Medicaid in Mass & not in RI, I tried to ask RI Medicaid if I would qualify before I moved but they refused to tell me. The Point a service of the United Way working for the Providence dept of Elder Affairs helped me sign up for an appropriate insurance. The worst part was trying to get a new primary care MD. There is a PCP shortage in RI. About 40 doctors told me they were not taking new patients. I found 1 Dr. at Charter Care on line who might accept new patients, When I called the secretary dropped my call (that happened a lot) but I went straight to the office & got that appt after 2 months of trying. By all means keep your Mass Drs but if Mass Health finds out you've moved out of state it's over.
