Anything over 30 seconds requires a star tracker, but all star trackers have periodic error, preventing exposures past 4-5 minutes unless your system has a guide scope as well. It gets fairly complicated 🌠✌🏽

The elite (dick) comment that I feel compelled to add (as a dick) is that Blue light combined with Yellow light (additive) makes something closer to white light.
Blue pigment/paint with yellow pigment/paint (subtractive) makes green, but not so with light.🤷🏼♂️

Oh! I thought it took longer than that -- though I suppose over thirty minutes you would get signs of motion, right?

I've found it possible to get good results in less than perfect conditions. For this I was pointing just west of Block Island, so there was some light coming from Westerly but using a light pollution filter and some editing I was able to get this result which isn't bad.

Point Judith doesn't have to worry about light pollution?

Generally it's not good form to disclose specific locations, but I've heard that they have been seen from North Kingstown to Block Island, Newport to Narragansett, and I'm sure elsewhere in the area. Good luck!

Wow I’ve never seen them around. Can you name a few spots where they can be seen?
cake_piss_can t1_jcq0bc0 wrote
When we were kids we used to jump off the Point rd bridge in Portsmouth all the time. You’ll prolly get arrested now tho.

Ft. Wetherill is the highest. That’s in Jamestown. Newport has some fun ones. Dukes & 40 steps are on the cliff walk, 12 o’clock high is on the ocean drive, The causeway heading to goat island & Diving rock over by fort Adam’s.

If you like to eat, try the Nordic Lodge. We take our relatives and friends here when they visit. They talk about it for years afterwards. All you can eat seafood, steak buffet. Best in New England, not cheap either. Around $135/person last time I checked. https://www.thenordic.com/menu.htm

Wakefield has CafBar, Audrey’s, and a Starbucks, already. Audrey’s is pretty bad, but cafbar is great. If a new spot opened it would have to be a step up.

Malcolm’s a good guy, his politics notwithstanding. High energy bordering on intense so I can see how you’d feel that way. Also: he’s a former kicker for the Pats.
