Honestly, she probably didn't really consider it but is just saying so to sound respectful so she can run for Gov again in 2026.

She was grandstanding. It was a fair rebuttal to her claim of being offended.

I'll take them helping to clean this state up instead of a rude classist like you showing up in my neighborhood.

Thats great! Granted I have only been to newport once so I dont even know if this is a fair question, but how do you live your life around the busy, likely annoying tourist aspect? Is it the type of thing that when you are there you just know the local spots and so it doesnt impact you much or is it something you have to wrestle with over the summer and find obnoxious?

The stairs are a riot, and how about those entrance columns holding up an impossible balcony haha! ouch! It's so, so bad. The peloton room is on point though, just like the ads lol

It's such a shame that Scituate is represented by a pig like this guy. Also you know what they say about Republicans and projection...

She isn’t currently a CEO, though. She left CVS in 2018 and the Hudson’s Bay Company in 2020. All she does today is serve on a bunch of boards for various companies and organizations, which is usually only an advisory thing.

Bristol has a few coffee shops as I recall and there's very little focus on "conspicuous consumption" fro our experience. There are family owned and operated restaurants and little in the way of "chain restaurants" there. It's simply a community focused on community and not who owns what.

Ok, so I talked to a few friends about this and we all agree that Newport doesn't have the Joneses thing going on. I've lived here 20 years and have never felt it or seen it. Most of the wealthiest people here, you would never guess to look at them. Everyone co-mingles and the only try-hards you really see are people from out of town. 😂 Most Newporters are pretty comfortable with who they are and enjoying the casual lifestyle. And, I also love Portsmouth, NH!

It’s the double staircase for me. Is one side for going up and one side for going down? 🤣 Seems like a bit much for the space.

Chelo’s? Please tell me it was Chelo’s! He was my only RI celebrity run in besides nearly walking into Allen Fung at the Scituate art festival. Cooley was on a flight to DC (ha!) and was nice to the few of us that recognized him that early in the morning.

Sorry for nitpicking, but I imagine both battered women and homeless children have suffered as a result of opiate addiction and the deaths associated from it.
Edit: this problem is, of course, much more complex. But if there is at least somewhere safe, perhaps that is the second chance that someone needs. It is impossible to make 100% change, but perhaps we can utilize this, and then work on the real problems that create the opioid epidemic.

I don’t think it would’ve been to stay. The path would be win the special, win again in 2024, come back in 2026 or 2030 and run for Governor as a sitting Congresswoman. This is the same rationale I think other “big” name candidates would’ve been using. Being Congressperson gives you access to press coverage that you otherwise would have to generate.
But also, I don’t believe she is a CEO anymore? She left HBC a few years ago.

If you think that defending herself and others who are constantly targets of unwarranted and disgusting sexual orientation insults & prejudices is grandstanding, you need to go find a dictionary.
