I grew up in NYC and everyday I’m happy not to hear about people getting pushed onto the train tracks, drive by shootings and school stabbings. Watching the news was stressful.

The service we do have is surprisingly decent. It runs on time and buses are clean. We just need better routes around the city and higher service frequencies. Both of which are included in the state’s transit master plan, which has been approved but not yet funded by the legislature. So if you want a respectable public transportation system, please let your reps know.

People in this state losing their mind over a building with private funding and some tax abatement because (pick one):

  • We need affordable housing not luxury apartments
  • There isn’t a demand for more luxury apartments

Were meanwhile totally fine with the city borrowing money to build a stadium for a sport without any proven demand and without funding secured for a major part of the project (housing).

And people wonder why we can’t buy beer at a gas station 😂

Cost per BTU is significantly lower for natural gas than oil or propane. Even before adjusting for system sizing, efficiency, etc… you are paying about half as much per unit of energy. Anything that further improves efficiency in energy conversion to heat or distribution of that heat is just gravy.

>Given the market challenges of the last year, including a global pandemic, rising interest rates, tighter market conditions, and a looming banking crisis

Outside of "looming banking crisis", which is hyperbolic doomsday nonsense not supported in reality, weren't every single one of those conditions true when this was approved last year?

Yeah, interest rates hadn't been increased that much yet last summer, but there was zero doubt that was happening in the very near future.

>Ignoring the part where am inmate was taken to the hospital for hypothermia?

No, mostly because it’s not there.

Ferruccio said in addition to correctional officers complaining of the cold, an inmate housed in the ISC was taken to the hospital on March 13 because he was “possibly suffering from hypothermia and some other complications.”

J.R. Ventura, a spokesperson for RIDOC, told 12 News the department could not confirm if the events were related, and did not clarify what the inmate’s diagnosis was.

“Out of an abundance of caution, an inmate was taken to the hospital from the Intake Service Center to be examined after displaying unusual behavior,” Ventura said in a statement Friday.

Ventura said that, as of Tuesday, the inmate was in stable condition, and “due to several underlying conditions, he remains at Rhode Island Hospital.”

How is someone who has an entire lifetime of experience brewing english beer meant to brew very good beer in another style, one that they don't necessarily have a palate for, or any genuine interest in?

That's a recipe for disaster.

Also, there has been a movement toward more sessiony beers in general in the last few years in american cask beers. You can fill that in any number of ways, but there's nout wrong with using English beers to do it if that's your expertise.
