Reply to Beach access for Narragansett town beach as some who doesn’t live in Narragansett? by yeehawkalian
The sand and the waves at that beach are excellent but everything else about it is annoying or worse. Where long ago was a funky little downtown right across the street from the beach is now nothing but that eyesore condo building.

Assuming you're referring to Buttonwoods Brewery even though it is technically walkable, placing Wellington Ave in same neighborhood as Rolf Square is like calling Wayland Square the same neighborhood as Gano St.

These people, the many employees and the union hall depending on their dues care. This battle is now decades old. Follow the money; a lot of labor backed politicians in the assembly.

Season tickets means they're paid for whether or not there's a butt in them. And the numbers still don't sound good.

Teamster and McLaughlin & Moran are a pain in the dick. I can’t get my buddies beer in RI because of their bullshit
Stick to distributing hop flavored water and leave the little guy to do what they want
I’m union, but the teamsters seems to always pick fights that make no sense and don’t fight for shit that need to change

Harder to fill a stadium when you have 75 games. Still need to staff empty stadiums on gameday, that’s a problem when there are 75 games. There’s more capacity for other types of events (concerts, etc)

Cheaper doesn’t mean faster, unfortunately. It’s a local route, so it makes a bunch of stops along the way. That said, it’s scheduled to take an hour and 20 minutes to get to the beach from Kennedy Plaza, which is longer than driving but not as long as you experienced. Did your bus hit extra traffic along the way?
It’s worth noting that 45 minutes from Providence is also a fairly optimistic drive time during the summer season.

Scarborough is a little bit farther away but I don’t mind . The only think that concerns me about Scarborough is that there’s a waste treatment plant or something right next to it and I was told it leaks into the ocean or they dump there or something like that

I think they should put a suicide booth in every Emergency room in the country. The caveat is that they are only powered by 10 Sacagawea dollar coins. Only people who have seriously contemplated their situation and choices will have the time and energy to track down 10 Sacagaweas

Damn that’s crazy. I really hope they don’t bc they would be insane. Narragansett beach is the beach everyone goes to, it’s so weird to me they’re trying to gate-keep it. it’s not even that nice lol
Also how do they know if you paid the entrance fee? Do they stamp your hand or give you a bracelet or something? Like what happens if you paid, went to get food and came back, how do they know you didn’t sneak in?

Yeah, that would be my assumption too. I'm not sure if stats back it up in general. But it makes sense as poor and rich are comparative, looking at 1000 years ago or whatever and what's poor and rich is very different.

It’s not only money though. A lot of people will feel guilty about being a time burden on their family with all the caregiving, rides to appointments etc

“In marketing, the term market refers to the group of consumers or organizations that is interested in the product, has the resources to purchase the product, and is permitted by law and other regulations to acquire the product.”

I think what you describe about baseball is exactly the problem. Most people don’t give two shits about the game, they just want to get drunk. Same with American football.
I’ve been to tons of baseball games. I grew up watching the PawSox in Pawtucket. I’ve been to World Series games at Fenway park. I know it’s a sport that is struggling to hold the attention of Americans - too long, too many games, too much nationalistic virtue signaling and fake patriotism.

I noticed the second bill says “whose principal place of manufacture is outside of this state.” Any idea what the significance of that is?
Also curious to hear if any breweries or the RI Brewers Guild has a take on this.

No, I said using that as a driving factor to build a train station in a location that's not exactly convenient for such a purpose was stupid.
And again, if there is so much money to be made from stadium operations then there should be plenty of opportunities for private funding. When so much of it is to be left on taxpayers that's generally a sign the real risk is higher than what they're trying to sell you. Tax money is not a VC fund.
And AGAIN, WHY WAS THERE NOT A VOTE?

It’s stupid to attract tourism to Pawtucket? Ok.
I travel all over the US for Revs games and we often see hundreds of out of town supporters for Revs games.
If you don’t think the RI vs Hartford rivalry will be interesting, that’s ok.

I spent a good portion of my childhood in the area so just don't want to see it become another hipster village with matching rents to boot (a la Edgewood and Federal Hill).
