There’s a couple I can think of, and some of them are somewhat niche.

In no particular order:

  • Gina

  • Family Guy stuff including Adam West

  • H.P. Lovecraft

  • Our congressional reps have been pretty involved in important committees over the years and are pretty visible.

  • Newport/Tennis Hall of Fame.

  • WaterFire

  • Brown University, RISD, PC (mostly for basketball)

I’m definitely missing some, but those are at least a few.

If the restriction was on out of state, I'd think that would be a decent compromise. Brewers in Rhode Island don't like it because if you're someone like Whalers and you built a pretty solid brand here, this impacts your ability to pick up your operation and move it out of state.

And, make no mistake about it, that's the only thing they're looking out for with opposition to that version.

Keep downvoting away if it makes you feel more accepted by the subreddit, but Rolfe Square is one of the last places in Providence County where the elderly (especially those who don't drive) and low-to-middle income folks can walk and do their day-to-day business without worrying as much about traffic, safety, and noise. I grew up lower income and spent a good portion of my childhood there so I am naturally protective about it. I also have a rental property close by so if anything wfh transplants would be a financial plus for me. But I'd rather not see it go in the direction of Edgewood or Federal Hill (or even Elmhurst--talk about sticker shock) over the past 10 years. It is what it is.

I agree. The only reason I like going to gansett is bc it’s the closest one to me and the waves aren’t rough. I like East and Charlestown beach a lot more but the current can be so strong it feels dangerous to be in the water at times. Idk if its it’s always the case or I just wasn’t lucky bc I never seen anyone else talk about that

One that was never put up for vote after we already voted no on keeping the pawsox. They knew it wouldn't pass. Now surprised pikachu it would cost more than we were told.

This is a bad deal. One we don't want but has at least partially been forced on us anyway, and just went south.

Because it’s also an investment in the community that will be attractive to a large segment of the population. You can think whatever you want about that angle, and only time will tell if it plays out true or not, as is the case with all large scale urban investments that are often partially funded with tax dollars.
