I guess it depends where you travel. I travel all over Europe and other international destinations and Boston is missing a lot of cities so would be at least a stop out of Boston plus the commute to Boston. Out of PVD I connect to Newark or Dulles and you can get anywhere.

I've heard that as a general rule, seven years is the sweet spot. You should be planning to stay for at least seven years if you want it to work in your favor financially.

I bought in February 2022. I didn't quite get the historic low rates, but they sure were a whole hell of a lot lower than they are now (about 3.5%). I probably got a deal at the time (incredibly enough, as the market was still really competitive), but Zillow says I'm up about 9%.

This should be a consideration. It's complicated but most people will pay higher income taxes in Massachusetts. If you live in Massachusetts but work in Rhode Island, you'll have to pay the difference to MA.

This changes things a lot. I would say that besides Rehoboth in Massachusetts (which may be worth looking into), Rhode Island is your only real option if you want more of a rural environment while being in easy commuting distance to Providence.

Was it Sun Country? They were in PVD for a bit, I did a flight to Minneapolis a couple times and it was good but the airline pulled out after a year or two.

This is pretty much going to be the case for most flights to a non-hub city. It’s 7-10 hours to get to Dallas from PVD. It’s 6 going from Logan which makes a day trip possible. You also don’t blow a day of travel if you have an issue with a connection - if your outbound flight is cancelled you have a more productive day and at least will be able to call into a meeting.
