Birds can SEE ultraviolet lighting, not that they see in ultraviolet.
Meaning, if you shone a UV flash light in their eyes, they can see it.

They can also seenthings that reflect / absord UV light. Its how vision works for... everything?

Well, There would have to be enough UV light to hit the blanket, but not get flooded by the normal light. Hence why you have to turn to lights off to see the UV reflecting off the blanket. No idea if birds are sensitive enough to be able to differentiate and block out the normal lighting.
