Ummm, CO2 is also a deadly, colourless and odourless gas that fools your body into believing that you have enough oxygen and you stop breathing. But I'm pretty sure we're talking about CO here, so get to fresh air call 911 and follow the nice Firefighters directions.

Weight loss is the industry I was thinking of in particular. It's an extremely ineffective industry considering the billions in revenue.
I think the trick is to blame the consumer for not using the product well enough (like Steve Jobs "you're holding it wrong") rather than admit the product isn't all that great.

It's not that the products/diets are ineffective, it's that they're only effective for as long as you use/follow them. That's why many diets fail, because as soon as you stop you put the weight back on.
