I think about this every day. I miss early Internet and all the random sites I would visit daily.

I did not say I "wouldn't touch anyone" with it.
Since you are putting words in my mouth, I'll be done speaking with you now.

One thing I hate is that every so often, my lips start drying out, so I start using lip balm, and right around the time I get hooked on the lip balm, I get a cold sore, infecting it. As soon as the cold sore starts healing, I stop using that lip balm to avoid a repeat infection, and I find I don't need lip balm anymore. After a while, my lips start drying out again, so I start using lip balm, and just as it becomes routine, COLD SORE! It heals, I don't need lip balm anymore. I start needing lip balm, and just when I think it might become a regular piece of my life, a cold sore swoops in and pushes me away again.

Gotta disagree on recipes; I find plenty of good recipes on line including some sites that I now trust significantly.
But often the best thing to do is look up 3 recipes for the same dish, see what they have in common, what is different, and choose what you want to do with that info, based on the flavors you like.

I'm skeptical of Web 3.0 in terms of the specifics involved in that term but absolutely agree that decentralising the web again would be a good thing.

I fully invest in this app. Everybody can use a dad type figure. My parents divorced when i was 18 and my dad died just this past August and so much i feel i miss learning from him.

So you’re saying you wouldn’t touch anyone with it. Period.
Tell your wife/husband you wouldn’t be with them over a few bumps (if they ever manifest). Unless you’ve both been tested beforehand, very likely he/she has it (it’s not included on standard STI panels).

IMO a lot of the problems with social media in one way or another stem from each platform being run for profit by a particular organisation. During that big Facebook outage I got into this p2p social network called Scuttlebutt and it has a completely different set of problems.

I know you weren't aiming for a complete list but an important set of websites you haven't mentioned are the mainstream and other media websites that generate much of the content that then goes around and around on social media.

I've been married for many years now. So, no. And if I wasn't married and was dating around, then no - I would not willingly/knowingly sleep with someone that had herpes. But I am not the type of guy to sleep around anyway so it wouldn't matter.
Yes, I realize that a virgin can have herpes. It could have been transmitted during birth. But we're getting further away from the original topic so I'm about done here.

Reply to Statistically most people are pretty average by 2278AD
Actually that is not necessarily the case. It depends on what quantity you are averaging but in a lot of cases that is not the case. For example the average number of testicles per person is 1. But obviously the average person doesn’t have 1 testicle.
Edit: another example that is more relevant but hypothetical: If 40% of the population has an IQ greater than 120, 40% less than 80 and the remaining 20% between 80 and 120 then the average IQ of the world is around 100 but 80% of people are far from average. They are either really smart or really stupid.

What part about online social interaction stunts your ability to communicate in person? No offense but this just screams armchair psychology expert to me.
It's a common trope that people spending a lot of time online are social "losers". But what people seem to not realize is that it's the other way around.
People who are socially atypical have an easier time socializing online than in person. It's not socializing online that makes someone socially atypical.

You know, I didn't even think about that! I don't game on the PC, so maybe that's fine. It works fine to navigate 3d modeling programs.

Would you engage in a romantic relationship with someone with them?
And again, you can have sex with someone and you’re both virgins, and still get it genitally.
It’s not just prevalent, it’s more common to have it than not.
YOU are the outlier if you don’t have either strain. You almost certainly have Chickenpox or the Epstein-Barr virus, two other members of the herpes virus family that like HSV1 and 2, are incurable.

"...seeing thoughts and posts like yours."
I don't think I've given the impression that I think people with cold sores are "untouchable" or anything.
Yes, I realize it's been around a long time. And it's prevelant.
But if you avoid casual sexual encounters and using other's utensils, it's mostly avoidable.
(Please realize I used the qualifier "mostly". I know that some are just lucky. But avoiding unnecessary contact can prevent a lot of things.)
