This is literally me to a t. 😭
I got salmonella poisoning once from a Sweet Tomatoes the night before a Disney trip when I was 6 years old. The next morning I spent the entire day with a fever and just feeling all around terrible. I even remember throwing up a little bit on the bus on the way to school, crying and not wanting to tell anyone because I was afraid that my family wouldn't let me go to Disney world.
Cue me throwing up in the park around sunset. I was so sick I honestly don't even remember how we got from the park back to the cabin at fort wilderness. My grandma laid down with me on the pullout couch and I remember watching "Cats Don't Dance" on the TV. After about 15 minutes I tried to wake her up because I knew I was going to throw up again. She didn't wake up on time and I projectile vomited all over the bed, all over myself and all over the stuffed animals I had bought from the park earlier that day. My sister still makes fun of me for it. But it's not like I didn't try to help the situation. I have CP so I couldn't just get up and run to the bathroom to throw up. I more or less puked in the bed because my grandma refused to wake up and help me. It was a pretty truamatic experience for first grade me. But my dad drove 2 hours to make it to Orlando to come see me and then he and his girlfriend bought me all kinds of toys from the gift shop to cheer me up.
To this day I don't eat at buffets. I'm selective of what I eat and from which restaurants I choose to eat. I even try to avoid chicken if I can help it. Salmonella poisoning is awful and it could even be fatal in a young children or older individuals. I'm lucky I didn't wind up in the hospital. I'm glad the pandemic more or less put an end to buffet style restaurants because they should never exist to begin with. They are a hotbed for food poisoning.

You'd think so, but some stubborn people don't learn lessons even the hard way. My dad still trivializes salmonella, listeria, etc. by deriding food safety habits (handwashing, wiping surfaces, bleaching cutting boards) even though he's been hospitalized for contracting a foodborne illness. Mind you, he was out after one night, but that doesn't justify trivializing the incident.

I will remain forever grateful that the toilet in my house at the time was located right next to the bathtub. I was stuck there for hours but at least the setup accommodated both ends.
I still hate you, famous sub sandwich place.

Yeah, for me it was the very famous sub sandwich place we all know. It’s been 12 years and i still can’t even stand to watch their commercials.
I did try—once—to walk into one just to get a drink. As soon as I crossed the threshold and smelled the bread, I turned around and practically ran back out. My entire body said, “Nope. Never again.”

I feel for you. I've gotten sick from sushi once, but it wasn't due to food poisoning
Me and my significant other got this "boat" of sushi she swore that she was able to finish once with her mother
Turns out, my gf only eats the crunchy, fried rolls. 70% of it was just slabs of raw fish
I don't know how much raw fish I had eaten that day, but the car ride was enough to make me throw it up when I got home. Not fun and indeed pretty painful

That's only partly true. I can no longer eat shrimps, but I still eat Cambodian food whenever I can.

Was about to say. It Has never stopped me. I have a habit of picking the worst street food and tend to puke so much I pop the blood vessels in my face.

I threw up my favorite cereal when I was 8: Lucky Charms. Haven’t wanted them since.
