I appreciate your mature approach to this! I hate coming across negativity on the internet and I'm fairly new to this sub. The only other subs I'm active on are for some of my favourite rock bands (r/rush and r/muse to be more specific) and everyone's so nice on those subs. I guess I should just take a break from posting thoughts here and just admire the good ones lol. Have a good one man and thanks for the kind reply!

Bruh, if women did that back then the bible and other religious texts say they:

  1. deserve to be forced to have an abortion by her husband
  2. her and the man she cheated with will be stoned to death

Women have been treated like cattle for most of history so this post doesn't surprise me one bit. I just find it annoying how most dudes don't even consider those facts when talking about women today. We haven't even had a full generation of being able to do that shit without massive backlash about it.

I think the idea is native speakers have practical mastery of the language, with a huge bias towards words that have common use. If its a second language, outside of the words you absolutely need to get by the words you pick up might be more obscure or academic.

For example: Estalogical vs Vestigial. Native speakers will all know vestigial due to biology class, while a second language learner would have no bias on which to learn because neither are particularly relevent. They might pick up Estalogical instead, sound really smart, and no one would realize they never learned vestigial because its not used enough.

Now that’s some amazing self reflection that I really have not come to expect on this website haha. I think the hard part about this subreddit is that most of the big posts are reposts that hit a specific spot in our brains and just always rise to the top. Actually unique “random” human thoughts are so subjective like you said, so it’s hard to have one that people don’t immediately nitpick/criticize in the comments.

Also remember that at least 75% of this site is just chomping at the bit to shit on someone, so this is just an easy place for them to do it with zero negative consequences.

I respect you more for your reply though, so clearly you’ve got something going for you- even if it isn’t specifically having good posts for /r/showerthoughts haha.
