If you prefer a very high end spot go with Valbela in Riverside CT https://www.valbellagreenwich.com/

I’m still deliberating a few different options (including cutting this job option loose entirely) but to play devil’s advocate the cost of housing within 45min driving of Stamford looks pretty insane. $450k houses for the Philly suburbs are going for $700+ in CT / NY.

If they really like good food and nice restaurants then they probably won't like Prime. You have to leave Stamford. NYC, Norwalk, Darien, Westport, all have options. And if you're willing to drive there are some real gems in CT (Chamard Vineyards, Aresula Farms)

If going to nice restaurants isn't something they do a lot, then they will probably like Prime.

La Cremaillere is also supposed to be good up there, and not too far from the CT border. 250 is hitting the top of the range in this area without just splurging on a really expensive bottle of wine to pad the bill out. Of course, nothing wrong with that, but it feels less special occasion-y than a really nice menu, in my opinion.

I agree, Prime is probably the best bet in Stamford. L'Ostal (Darien) or Cottage (Westport/Greenwich) could be options. I don't know the NY scene as well, but something like Inn at Pound Ridge might work if they are in North Stamford.

Def agree on Prime! Could also do Terra Gaucha the new Brazilian steakhouse if they’re into that.

Maybe Siena would fit something darkly lit and cozy if they like Italian?

I researched how to visit last summer and gave up. From what I gathered you have to buy a license online but only between 9am-5pm even though it's online? So it wasn't available when I was researching and I didn't wanna just go there and not get in.

Aside from time, also look at the cost. I looked into taking the train to Philly once for a weekend trip and it was $100+ each way. Can't imagine that making financial sense.

That would be over 4 hours of commute every day you have to go to the office.

I live in a house very close by on Davenport Drive (great for walks as there is no traffic). We really love it. They are renovating the park and Old Greenwich is only a 5 minute drive. Would add the water taxi from Prime to Harbor Point is great in the summer. The Baypoint pool looks awesome
