Well.. I live in Finland, probably one of the most advanced countries in this regard looking at the support from our government.... But the money for any of those doesn't just appear, we pay for everything about it in taxes and other deductibles.
The pension system here is also incredibly badly built structure, which doesnt support rising population. I probably won't be receiving the pension I pay for, and also the age to be eligible for it has gone up in leaps. (My parents are eligible at 62-65, currently mine says I'll be eligible at 67-69, with the age going up every year, and being even higher for younger population)
Granted, none of our senior citizens, or most citizens in general are forced to work to make ends meet, but most people who have had full career in below-average salaries don't live comfortably either.

I didn't read the article but I imagine like most 80 somethings he was just there to supplement his retirement working part time.. This is probably at minimum 7 year salary if he kept working walmart.

There was some research in the 00s about solar winds depleting the ozone layer. But that was a separate thing from the human/CFC caused ozone issues. Solar winds can deplete the upper levels of the ozone, but the main part of the ozone layer are the lower levels (making up 80%+ of it), which are the ones damaged by us, and aren't affected by solar winds.
The solar winds research was interesting for explaining why some measurements didn't match predictions, but they weren't particularly related to the harmful effects of ozone damage.

But we can’t because the only party that would do this also stands for colored people and half of the country is too damn racist to vote differently even when something like this benefits them much more.

I'm no expert, but I think the change would be negligible

David Duchovny has a novel called "Holy Cow" about exactly this scenario. I wonder if they read it and took the idea seriously.

Is there any chance that this would work for color-blindness as well? As a kid I dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot growing up, only to have those dreams crushed when I got diagnosed with a slight red/green color blindness. Even though I might be too old to ever hope of becoming a fighter pilot, knowing that a treatment for red/green color-blindness even exists would greatly help remove that emotional wound I have.

Unexpected Dana Lyons :P
My family used to go camping in Washington with him, the campfire songs were pretty legendary.

Didn't they figure out a while ago that the ozone hole was being caused by solar wind?

I don’t know about that. I’ve seen range cattle standing out in the open with snow on their back at -40 degrees. Cows are tough!

At 1500 to 2000 bucks a cow I’d be passionate about getting them back too!

I might be mistaken, but doesn’t the amount of solar/shortwave radiation that reaches us impact the amount of long wave radiation that is absorbed by the earths surface? In that case wouldn’t lowering solar radiation reaching earths surface cause slight temperature drops?

I wouldn't say cattle really thrives in domestication either though.

Only if they are willing to agree globally to ban the industrial practices that cause the problems, like they did with the ozone and CFCs. This is a positive story because it shows that real change is possible if people and governments act.

The ozone layer protects us from UV radiation (and thus skin cancer, etc), its basically sunscreen for Earth. The changing climate is caused by 'greenhouse gassess' (such as carbon dioxide, methane) filling the upper atmosphere. Like how an oveecast cloudy night in winter will be warmer than a clear sky, the gasses trap the heat on the surface, and that builds up over time.
