Reply to Australia’s big polluters must cut emissions by nearly 5% a year, but can use offsets to get there | Greenhouse gas emissions by LachyWantsBrownies
Offsets, credits, all of it comes back to elaborate shell games to pretend there's a change. Cut emissions or at least stop pretending.
And only 5%?!
How is this uplifting to anyone except the execs in these companies?

We’re trashing our souls with mono-agriculture and pesticides but I haven’t heard that CO2 is bad for plants?

If you think climate change is going to be good for crop yields I have some bad news for you

Also all rainwater on the planet, the entire Earth, has PFOS levels higher than the EPA limit (and the EPA limit is likely too high as is).
Can't drink rainwater safely anywhere on Earth already.

Pretty soon it will be at great levels to support even greater crop yields and we will be living in a time of abundance. That is unless these anti-human nutters mess everything up.

Yep. Metal utensils need to have all those things happen too, but only once. It’s the single use we need to end.
As far as the cutlery, You stop providing them, and people will bring their own. You can point out how many people didn’t wear masks, but look at how many did. And if it will affect people’s food, people will adapt quickly.

This is the biggest problem. Wish there was more control here and steep fines for breaking the cutt values. Like paying for 100x the difference in direct air capture and permanent storage.
That way offsets companies may actually care about getting the offset to somthing we can trust
